Bernie Sanders: “These Are People Attending In Huge Numbers Who Are Saying NO To Oligarchy And Yes To Democracy.”

Bernie and AOC held a record-breaking rally in Los Angeles on Saturday, with over 36,000 Americans attending. I asked myself during Bernie’s speech, ” Why does any American oppose billionaires taking control of our government and agencies that provide essential services for the average American?

Bernie explained the massive turnout was an indication that “They are saying YES to raising the minimum wage, YES to expanding Social Security, YES to guaranteeing health care as a human right, YES to cutting the cost of prescription drugs, YES to paid family and medical leave, YES to equal pay for equal work, YES to more affordable housing, YES to making childcare and higher education affordable to all, YES to taking on the existential threat of climate change. These people are not showing up because I am running for something. There is no presidential campaign happening.”

Icons of rock and roll and social activists of the 60s Neil Young and Joan Baez performed at Bernie’s LA rally in support of ridding the government of oligarchy. Baez sang a beautiful rendition of John Lennon’s ” Imagine” as a call for unity among Americans and an end to Trump’s divisiveness and hatred. Young, along with the massive crowd, chanted, “take America back” and sang his anthem to freedom, “Keep On Rocking In The Free World.” The message from these artists and iconic activists was for people to claim the power given to them in a democracy to fight corruption of those in power.

Bernie echoed this sentiment for the people to claim their power as he quoted Abraham Lincoln’s words from his 1863 Gettysburg Address, “the government of the people, for the people, and by the people should not perish from this earth.” The message in this quote is America is not an oligarchy run by a king.

In an oligarchy, the government is run by a small group of people who hold all the power. You don’t have to be a politician to understand that this structure of a government does not care about or serve the needs of the majority. WHY DO TRUMP SUPPORTERS BELIEVE AN AUTOCRAT LIKE TRUMP AND HIS INNER CIRCLE OF BILLIONAIRES WILL UNDERSTAND AND CARE ABOUT THE NEEDS OF THE AVERAGE PERSON?  HIS POLICIES FAVOR THE RICH. ANYONE WHO DOESN’T SEE THAT, DOESN’T READ, IS POORLY EDUCATED, OR COMMITTED TO THE CULT.

Questions for Trump supporters and allies:

● Do you believe Russia led by Putin is a true democracy? If yes, explain.

● If you believe Putin is a dictator who spreads propaganda, rigs elections, and murders opponents, can you explain why you favor Trump’s defense and protection of him?

● Do you accept Lincoln’s belief that the American government should be, “of the people, by the people, and for the people?” If not, why?

● Explain why you would support a one-party form of government as long as it is your party?

● Do you believe in jailing and inciting violence against an opponent because they share different views? Explain.

● How much money did you lose in the stock market when Joe Biden was president?

● How much did you lose last week in Trump’s stock market?

● In our democracy, do you believe the Constitution defines the use of the word “people” regarding rights, freedoms and equality to apply to rty to 48pconly white Christians?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND SELF- REFLECTION.
