Watters says Fox News shapes Trump’s agenda in Cracker Barrel victory lap

Fox News host Jesse Watters gave viewers of “The Five” a glimpse into how the Trump administration sets policy on Wednesday.

While gloating over a victory(?) in the conservative campaign against Cracker Barrel‘s planned logo change, Watters let it slip that whatever’s top of mind for the president likely came from the Murdoch family’s network.

“We covered this story for a week, and he watched it for a week…It was all us,” Watters said.

Cracker Barrel reversed its decision to simplify its logo earlier this week, mere hours after Trump shared a post on Truth Social saying the restaurant chain should “go back to the old logo [and] admit a mistake based on customer response.” Watters said that Trump’s social media post about Cracker Barrel’s signage “hit the winning shot” but wanted credit in the final accounting of the manufactured outrage.

“I’m not giving Trump credit for this,” he said. “I’m giving Fox credit for this.”

Watters called Fox News and Trump a “powerful combination.”

“It’s the biggest one-two punch the world’s ever seen,” he said, joking that they should start “exploiting it for our personal benefit.”

Elsewhere in the segment, Watters openly wondered how many racist mascots the network could have kept off the scrap heap.

“If we had just put our foot down years ago, think about what we could have saved,” he said. “Aunt Jemima, the Indian lady on the Land O’Lakes butter, the Redskins, the Cleveland Indians… Look what they took from us. Never again, never again.”
