The media must utilize tougher approaches to reporting on Trump. We need to break the hold he has on 35% of the Republican party. Here are some strategic ideas from the perspective of a therapist (or any layperson) who is heartbroken about Trump’s assault on America’s democracy and values:
▪︎ Stop using the word MAGA. Why? It feeds Trump’s ego as the” master brander” and legitimizes the movement he has created as a place for right-wing, white nationalist extremists to feel powerful, relevant and violent.
● Show the inappropriate photos of Trump with young girls at Epstein gatherings. Include the ones where he is half-clothed and making physical contact.
● Directly ask Trump to explain the photos.
● Tell Trump that on every issue he refuses to give full disclosure and transparency on, he will be assumed guilty of the accusations and labeled apptopriately. For example, announce with a deadline, that if he does not release all of the remaining unredacted Epstein files, we will assume he committed pedophilia and use that label.
● TV anchors and field journalists should ask Trump if he would submit to a lie detector test on a pay- for-view telecast and answer questions about the Epstein files, the truth about the Iran War, his relationship with Putin, his 2025 tax returns and financial statement, his proof that there was fraud in the 2020 election, and other topics where he has been called a liar.
● Produce daily TV segments talking about him showing signs of dementia. Include psychiatrists, psychologists, and neurologists in the discussions.

● Stop excessively airing video coverage of him. Announce that viewers have requested to see less of him.
● Present comparisons between him and Barack Obama that show him to be less successful, less qualified, and less popular.
● Publish and announce his national and global low poll numbers.
● Regularly call for his impeachment and removal from office due to his violations of the Constitution.

What do these strategies have in common? They attempt to prove he is a liar, trigger his anger, expose his criminality, prove his incompetence, and change the minds of voters whom he has duped. Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against Trump by prestigious law firms for the Constitutional violations he has committed. The press has a responsibility to expose the truth and be especially relentless in doing so towards a president who lies, cons, and ignores the Constitution.
