He was a self-sacrificing man who prioritized giving time, financial help, and love to others over hedonistic and opportunistic pursuits.Throughout his public service, President Carter fought for the equal rights of all people. He was a man of authentic, deep faith, not the fake faith practiced by many of today’s Republican politicians. He was staunchly against bigotry and due to his knowledge of the Bible, often pointed out the hypocrisy and lies peddled by racist and misogynistic so-called Christians.It has been calculated by credible news publications that Trump played 285 rounds of golf during his presidency at a cost of 142 million dollars of taxpayer money. In contrast to Carter, president-elect Donald Trump is motivated by self-interest, self-promotion, acquiring money, and power. He is a taker not a giver. The excessive amount golf he played as president is only one example of how unserious he is about service to the country. His addictive golfing and pattern of abuse of our court system has cost Americans a staggering amount of money. Trump’s behaviors and ideologies prove why character should count to voters.While President Carter sought to improve the lives of the average or poor American, Trump seeks to take money from his supporters ( who claim to be struggling financially) by begging them to buy his products and balloon his personal wealth. His hedonism, opportunism, and dishonesty is the opposite of how President Jimmy Carter lived his life and served this country.
