Many Americans say Trump “involved” in Epstein crimes: poll
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A national poll of 1,777 respondents found that a significant portion of voters believe President Donald Trump was involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, along with a continuing trend of sliding approval numbers for Trump.

In a July 25-28 poll from The Economist/YouGov, Americans were asked, “Do you think that Donald Trump was involved in crimes allegedly committed by Jeffrey Epstein?” Nearly half of those said yes — 46% — while 32% said no; a further 23% said they were not sure.

Respondents’ views were heavily influenced by partisanship.

Roughly 80% of Democrats said they believed Trump was involved with Epstein’s crimes, compared with 47% of independents and 11% of Republicans. But some 67% of all voters said that they think the Trump administration is covering up evidence relating to the Epstein case. While there were political divisions in those results, they were much less pronounced, with 86% of Democrats, 69% of independents and 45% of Republicans believing in a Trump administration cover-up.

The poll also found that 55% of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s leadership of the country, with 91% of Democrats disapproving, compared to 86% of Republicans who approve. While highly polarized, the findings reflect a broader national trend of declining approval ratings for the president and his administration.

A recent Gallup poll found that only 37% of Americans approve of Trump’s performance, a new low for his second term, and down from 50% in January.

“This is the lowest rating of Trump’s second term and just slightly higher than his all-time worst rating of 34% at the end of his first term,” Gallup noted in a post on X.

A recent poll from Rasmussen — which leans Republican — reported that 51% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s performance, versus 47% who approve. Likewise, a poll from Emerson College found that a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump’s presidency, with 47% expressing a negative opinion and 46% expressing support.
