TRUMP AND THE MAGA ALT-RIGHT WHINE CRY AT THEIR CONFERENCES AND ON THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS THAT DEMOCRATS ERRONEOUSLY LABEL THEM FASCISTS AND NAZIS. HOWEVER, THERE IS REASON TO SUSPECT FASCISM IS ALIVE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. FOR EXAMPLE, WHY DON’T THEY PUBLICALLY DENOUNCE AND INVESTIGATE NEO- NAZI, HOLOCAUST DENIER NICK FUENTES AND OTHER WHITE NATIONALIST MILITIA GROUPS ON FOX OR NEWS MAX?
Characteristics of Fascism:
Extreme nationalism: An intense, often exclusionary nationalism that prioritizes the state above all else and seeks to expand its power and influence.
Authoritarianism: A system of government with a strong, centralized control, often led by a cult of personality around a single, powerful leader who is seen as infallible.
Suppression of opposition: The systematic elimination of political dissent through violence, propaganda, and the banning of protests and opposition parties.
Militarism: A strong emphasis on military power, violence, and war, which are seen as therapeutic or necessary for the nation’s success.
Rejection of liberalism and democracy: A contempt for individual rights, civil liberties, free elections, and the principles of liberal democracy.
“Us vs. Them” mentality: The creation of a national community based on an “us” that needs to be purified and a “them” that are perceived as enemies and threats.
Control of the economy: While the specific economic system can vary, fascism involves significant state control and regulation of the economy, often in collaboration with existing elite groups.
Can Trump allies and voters credibly claim that none of these criteria are present in how the Trump administration functions?
Additionally, a fascist, authoritarian regime seeks control of the free press, free speech, educational curriculum, the judiciary and how elections are executed. Such a government defies the rules and laws of a Constitution, and uses violence to assert their power.
Like in Hitler’s Nazi Germany, alt-right leaning countries like the American government under Trump, pledge total loyalty to it’s leader, no matter how cruel or unlawful his orders may be. Followers of a fascist leader overlook or celebrate the leaders moral flaws. They accept corrupt abuse of power, the enriching of the leader and his family and allies, and excuse and justify his crimes.
When confronted with the facts about Trump’s obvious embracing of the elements of fascist philosophy, Trump supporters claim the “WHAT ABOUTISM” argument. WHAT ABOUT BIDEN, WHAT ABOUT OBAMA, WHAT ABOUT CLINTON, THEY DECRY.” THAT IS THEIR NOT-SO-CLEVER ATTEMPT TO AVOID DISPUTING, WITH EVIDENCE, HOW TRUMP IS NOT OPERATING AS A FASCIST LEADER.
When Nazi Hermann Goering, the second in command to Hitler, was asked at the Nuremberg trials if he knew of the atrocities that were occuring in the concentration camps he lied and said NO. He was then asked if he had known would he still follow Hitler’s orders for the Final Solution” of the Jewish Problem, and he said “YES, HEIL HITLER”.
HOW ARE THE BRUTAL ICE RAIDS AND DETENTION CAMPS ANY DIFFERENT THAN NAZI GERMANY? PEOPLE ARE BEING RACIALLY PROFILED, BEATEN, AND DISAPPEARED OFF THE STREETS OF AMERICA. THE GOVERNMENT SAYS IT’S ABOUT DEPORTATION, BUT IT IS REALLY ABOUT SOMETHING MORE DARK, CRIMINAL AND INHUMANE.
Americans who are bright enough, alert enough, scared enough, angry enough and patriotic enough are ready to fight for democracy by using their voices, their courage and their votes. THOSE WHO ARE SUPPORTING THE TRUMP MAGA REPUBLICAN REJECTION OF AMERICA REMAINING A DEMOCRACY WILL SOMEDAY SAY, ” I WAS JUST FOLLOWING THE ORDERS BY MY PRESIDENT”. BUT THAT WOULDN’T BE ENOUGH OF AN AMENDMENT FOR THE CRUELTY AND CRIMINALITY THAT THEY SUPPORTED.
