BAND AFTER BAND, ARTIST AFTER ARTIST, CARRIED THE SAME MESSAGE: HOW, LIKE NEVER BEFORE, THE PEOPLE HAVE TO TAKE POWER AND CONTROL AWAY FROM TRUMP, THE BILLIONAIRES, AND THE CURRENT CORRUPT REPUBLICAN PARTY. WE HAVE TO STAND UP FOR DIVERSITY, PERSONAL FREEDOM, AND DECENCY.
Despite the aggressive delivery style of the music, the messages were about goodness, decency, equality, values, and democracy, not dictatorship. Americans are angry, disappointed, outraged, and disgusted at having such an unqualified, immoral, criminal, lying, unfit person occupying the Oval Office. The question is why we didn’t oppose his narrow ” win” with investigations into corrupt interference by Elon Musk, state Republicans, Russia, or anyone else proven to be election interferers? Other assertions like Trump being an adjudicated rapist, a highly suspected pedophile in the unreleased Epstein files, a thief of taxpayer money, and an enemy of the Constitution were reflected in the music at the concert today. Undoubtedly, the MAGA cult members, the Cabinet, and the Republican loyalists will be outraged and defensive about the artists depiction of Trump as a cruel racist pig, a corrupt autocrat, and a crazy old dictator. However, the powerful lyrics of many of the songs include fact-based reflections of how Trump and the Republicans are destroying the America that our forefathers created for this Republic of equality, freedom, and decency.
As Senator Corey reminded us this week: “righteous anger” is a necessary motivator to get things done during this time when our democracy is under attack from within.
What we want Trump to know from the musical artists in this Power To the People concert today is:
● The people are coming after you in the midterms
● You are massively hated because you rape, cheat, lie, steal, abuse, and betray
● You are laughed at, not feared
● You have no claim to being respected just because you may have won ( not sure) the presidency
● The Hispanics, veterans, and young people who were fooled into believing that you cared about them have dumped you because of your broken promises, cruelty, and racism
● The people and America deserve better than you.
● The majority of Americans believe you are a pedophile, no matter what you hide and lie about.
● Because of your celebrity, you could have been a popular president if you weren’t so attracted to self- enrichment, cruelty, and lawlessness. You blew your chances of getting the love and respect you crave.
Today, the passion behind the music at Power of the People reminds us that older people, young people, black people, brown people, all minorities, the LGBTQ, men, women, and Independents all want the same good things for America, and we all reject corruption and autocrats.
